Allsup Provides Disability Resources At American Cancer Society Relay For Life In East St. Louis

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is an important resource for cancer survivors who cannot work during or after treatment

Belleville, Ill. — July 26, 2017 — Cancer survivors are living longer after their diagnosis, and many face financial problems, according to Allsup, the nation’s premier Social Security disability representation company. While many survivors return to work, about one-third cannot work at all or have less ability to work due to mental and physical health problems, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Individuals with cancer may be eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, but they face a complex and backlogged application process. Allsup team members will be at the American Cancer Society’s East St. Louis Relay for Life at Clyde C. Jordan Memorial Stadium on Friday, July 28, to provide SSDI information on how to apply for disability, from 5-7 p.m.

Getting expert help with the SSDI process can help applicants avoid the disability backlog that has 1.1 million people waiting for their disability hearing. In Illinois, 32,456 former workers wait an average 566 days for a disability hearing.

Individuals who cannot attend the event can access Allsup’s Free SSDI Assessment tool online, empower by Allsup® and receive personal, detailed results instantly online.
