Allsup Clears A Path Through Disability Maze At Lupus Education Conference Saturday, August 19

Individuals with severe disabilities are often stuck in the national backlog when seeking SSDI benefits

Belleville, Ill. — Aug. 9, 2017 — Allsup, a nationwide provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation, will provide disability screenings and information on its online screening tool, empower by Allsup®, at the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) Heartland Chapter’s Annual Lupus Education Conference, Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Lodge de Peres in St. Louis.

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can lead to organ failure, disability and death. Many individuals with lupus are unable to continue working just a few years after diagnosis.

“Lupus is unpredictable and its symptoms can range from mild to life threatening,” said Rosemary Chustak, LFA Heartland Chapter patient services manager. “It impacts most realms in a person’s life, often including the ability to earn a wage. This is the reason why understanding Social Security Disability Insurance and its application process is so important.

“Learning about SSDI before it is needed, and if it is an option, can alleviate potential financial stress for anyone unable to work due to their health,” Chustak added.

Allsup’s online tool, empower, helps individuals determine their likelihood of qualifying for SSDI, and guides them through the application process with clear step-by-step audio and written instructions.

“Applying for Social Security disability with empower by Allsup, and using Allsup as your SSDI representative, increases your chances of being approved at the application level,” said Tai Prohaska, Allsup manager of Strategic Alliances. “You want to get expert help at the very beginning, to improve your odds of avoiding the disability backlog.”

Nationally, more than 1.1 million people with severe disabilities are waiting about 600 days for a disability hearing. In Missouri, 30,675 people are waiting an average 586 days.
