Allsup Provides Disability Screenings At GCS Ballpark, May 13

National Alliance on Mental Illness kicks off Mental Health Month with “Race for Recovery” 5K run and mental health fair

Belleville, Ill. — May 10, 2017 — Allsup, the nation’s premier Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation company, will provide SSDI and veterans disability benefits screenings at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois, at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southwestern Illinois’ Race for Recovery, Saturday, May 13.

Held each May to observe Mental Health Month, the event raises awareness and funds to provide free mental health education and support for 12 Southwestern Illinois counties. In addition to the 5K race, individuals can register for a one-mile Walk for Awareness.

According to NAMI, each year, approximately 1 in 25 adults in the U.S. experiences a serious mental illness that substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities. While most individuals who have experienced or live with mental illness are able to work full-time, severe mental disorders can make it impossible to continue working. SSDI is an important resource for those who can’t work for 12 months or more.

SSDI benefits include a regular monthly income, dependent benefits, automatic Medicare eligibility and re-employment assistance. These are often lifelines for former workers. The first step in the SSDI application process is to determine eligibility.

Allsup team members will be available on-site to answer questions and help individuals determine eligibility for SSDI benefits and veterans disability appeals. Allsup can assist veterans with both SSDI and VA disability appeals representation.

For those unable to attend the event, a free SSDI tool that makes applying for SSDI easier is available online at
